Infrared Sauna
Infrared saunas differ from traditional saunas by using infrared light to heat the body directly rather than heating the air around you. This allows for a deeper, more detoxifying sweat at a lower, more comfortable temperature. It is a low EMF infrared sauna with a rating of 6, which means it emits minimal electromagnetic fields during use.
Key Benefits
- Detoxification: Helps the body release toxins, including heavy metals and environmental pollutants, through deep cellular sweating.
- Relaxation & Stress Relief: Promotes a state of deep relaxation by balancing cortisol levels and soothing the nervous system.
- Pain Relief: The deep heat penetration helps reduce inflammation, ease muscle soreness, and provide relief for joint pain or arthritis.
- Improved Circulation: Stimulates blood flow and enhances cardiac health by mimicking the effects of passive cardiovascular exercise.
- Skin Health: Helps clear pores and stimulates collagen production, leading to a clearer, more radiant complexion.
What to Expect During Your Visit
Preparation: Bring comfortable clothes. You will be in a secure area if you want to change your attire. Arrive well-hydrated. It is recommended to drink at least 8–16 oz of water before your session. Water is provided or feel free to bring your own. We request any liquid be in a sealed container to prevent any spills while in the sauna.
The Environment: You will be in a private wooden suite. The air will feel warm and dry, typically ranging between 110°F and 150°F, which is significantly cooler than a steam sauna. Feel free to take a hand towel (provided) to help wipe off any excess sweat while in the sauna
The Session: Most sessions last between 30 and 45 minutes. You may not start sweating immediately; it often takes 10–15 minutes for the deep tissue heating to trigger a sweat. A timer on the wall will be set
Contraindications
- Consult with a physician before use if you have any underlying health conditions.
- Have a pacemaker or defibrillator, which may be negatively affected by magnets used to assemble the infrared sauna
- Under the age of 18
- Are pregnant (will require written physician consent)
- Are breastfeeding
- Have a history of heart conditions, obesity, or diabetes
- Are using medications such as diuretics, barbiturates, and beta-blockers. These may impair the body's natural heat loss mechanisms. Anticholinergics, such as amitriptyline, may inhibit sweating and can predispose individuals to heat rash or to a lesser extent, heat stroke. Some over-the-counter drugs, such as antihistamines, may also cause the body to be more prone to heat stroke
- Have a recent (within 48 hours) joint injury
- Have chronically hot & swollen joints
- Have an enclosed infection (dental, in joints or any other tissue)
- Have hemophilia, or anyone predisposed to hemorrhage
- Have multiple sclerosis, central nervous system tumors or any condition associated with impaired sweating
- Have a fever, or a condition that makes you insensitive to heat
- DO NOT use if you are under the influence of drugs or alcohol
- If unsure of a specific health condition, always check with your physician for clearance
Halotherapy, or dry salt therapy, involves breathing in micronized salt particles in a controlled environment. This natural, non-invasive treatment is designed to mimic the microclimate of a natural salt cave.
Halotherapy is primarily used to support respiratory health and skin conditions. The salt particles act as a natural anti-inflammatory and antibacterial agent.
Key Benefits
- Respiratory Support: Helps clear mucus and reduce inflammation in the airways. It is often used by those seeking relief from asthma, allergies, bronchitis, and sinus congestion.
- Skin Health: The salt’s antimicrobial properties can help balance skin pH and reduce irritation. It is commonly sought for conditions like eczema, psoriasis, and acne.
- Immune System Boost: By clearing the respiratory tract of allergens and pollutants, it can help the body's natural defenses function more efficiently.
- Stress Reduction: The quiet, ionized environment of a salt room promotes deep relaxation and helps lower cortisol levels.
What to Expect During a Session
A typical halotherapy session lasts between 30 and 45 minutes. Here is a breakdown of the experience:
The Environment: You will sit in a comfortable chair within a clear 6 x 6 ft tent dome. A device called a halogenerator crushes pharmaceutical-grade salt into tiny particles and disperses them into the air. Feel free to bring a friend, book or simply relax and take a nap. Focus on deep breathing to increase relaxation.
Sensations: The salt particles are so fine that you typically won't see or feel them, though you might notice a faint salty taste in your mouth and on your lips.
Attire: Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing. If you are seeking treatment for a skin condition, consider wearing clothing that leaves those areas exposed (e.g., shorts or a tank top). Your clothes will have a light film on them from salt particles falling. You will be in a secure room if you need to change your attire.
After-Effects: It is common to experience a slight cough or a runny nose shortly after the session as your body begins to clear out loosened mucus. It is not recommended to shower after the session in order to experience the full benefits of the salt on your skin.
Contraindications
While halotherapy is safe for most people, it is not recommended for individuals with the following health conditions:
- Acute Fever or Infections: Do not use it if you have an active fever or a contagious illness.
- Severe Hypertension: Individuals with unstable high blood pressure should avoid treatment.
- Advanced Respiratory Failure: Those with chronic obstructive lung diseases in the advanced stages should seek medical clearance.
- Active Tuberculosis: Halotherapy is contraindicated for anyone with active TB.
- Recent Surgery: If you have had recent surgery or have open, bleeding wounds, infections or severe skin conditions, wait until you are fully healed.
- Pregnant women and children under 2 years of age: Due to limited research
- Cancer or Chemo: Patients currently undergoing chemotherapy or dealing with active malignancies should consult their oncologist first.
A zero-gravity massage chair reclines the body into a position where the knees are elevated above the heart. This position is designed to distribute weight evenly across the chair, reducing pressure on the spine and mimicking the "neutral body posture" developed by NASA. The chair uses rollers, airbags, and heat to provide a mechanical massage.
Benefits
- Spinal Decompression: By reclining to a neutral posture, the pressure on your vertebrae is significantly reduced. This allows the discs in your spine to decompress and can alleviate chronic lower back pain.
- Improved Circulation: Elevating the legs above the heart level helps the heart pump blood more easily. This can reduce swelling (edema) in the legs and feet and improve overall oxygen delivery to your muscles.
- Deeper Massage Intensity: In the zero gravity position, your body weight is pressed more firmly against the chair’s massage rollers. This allows for a deeper, more effective "human-like" massage compared to a standard upright chair.
- Reduced Physical Stress: The weightless sensation helps the body transition out of a "fight or flight" state. It can lower cortisol levels and help manage tension headaches by relaxing the neck and shoulder muscles.
- Enhanced Lung Function: Many users find it easier to take deep, full breaths in this position because the diaphragm is under less pressure, which can promote better respiratory relaxation
Contraindications (Safety Precautions)
While beneficial for most, you should consult a doctor or avoid use if you have:
- Pregnancy: Especially in the first trimester, intense lumbar massage or heat should be cleared by a physician.
- Medical Implants: Pacemakers or other electronic medical devices can sometimes be affected by the magnets or vibrations of the chair.
- Severe Bone Conditions: Individuals with advanced osteoporosis, recent fractures, or spinal fusion surgery should avoid high-intensity mechanical massage.
- Circulatory Issues: Those with active blood clots, deep vein thrombosis (DVT), or severe undiagnosed leg pain should not use the leg compression features.
- Acute Inflammation: If you have a fever, an active infection, or an open wound, the increased circulation from a massage can sometimes worsen the condition.
